Next Tuesday, October 11th, at 6.00 p.m. at the Picture Gallery of the Albertina Academy - via Accademia Albertina 6, Torino – the Exhibition Incontrare Bagetti (Meeting Bagetti) is open until March 11, 2012. In 2010 the Consulta promoted and started the restoration of some watercolours by Giuseppe Pietro Bagetti (Turin 1764 – 1831) belonging to the Pinacoteca; the works were restored by the 2nd and 3rd year students under the supervision of the restoration teachers of the Albertina Academy.
The Pinacoteca was built in the early 1830’s with the noble intent of providing a valid educational support to the student of the Accademia Albertina (the Art Academy of Turin) The exhibition is the result of an efficient cooperation pattern between public and private Institutions, i.e. the Accademia, the Soprintendenza per i Beni Storici, Artistici ed Etnoantropologici del Piemonte ( the Fine Arts Regional Board of Piedmont ) and the Consulta. This is indeed a very special “meeting” with the artist and his works featuring Nature and its phenomena as they occur, a sublime sight seized on the very day. The whole corpus of Bagetti’s painting conserved at the Accademia will be on display, to include both the works already on exhibition and those on storage, further to some engravings and prints from the Historical Library The exhibition is enriched by works from private Turinese collections, some of which never exhibited before.
In cooperation with the Soprintendenza (the Fine Arts Regional Board of Piedmont) and the Palazzo Reale di Torino (Royal Palace of Turin), the Apartments of King Vittorio Emanuele III are open to the public from October 15th until the end of the exhibition and guided tours organized on Saturdays by the Association ‘Amici di Palazzo Reale’ (Friends of the Royal Palace of Turin); here the views commissioned to Bagetti by the Savoia Family will be on display.
From October 20th to December 11th, 2011, some famous watercolours belonging to the Napoleonic painting collection by the Turinese Artist are on display at the Wunderkammer of the Municipal Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Arts. “The exhibition includes the watercolours of which we financed the restoration," explains Lodovico Passerin d’Entrèves, the President of the Consulta “ and is a unique opportunity indeed to admire the masterpieces by this great landscape painter. Some works were not available as stored within the Archive, while others, belonging to private collections, have never been exhibited. The commitment by the 32 Companies and Members of the Consulta for the enhancement of the Accademia Albertina Art Gallery started in 1995, when the twelve display rooms were restored and reopened to the public, by devoting special care to the organization of the precious unit including the 60 sixteenth-century cartoons by Gaudenzio Ferrari and his school, transferred to the Accademia by king Carlo Alberto. In 2005 the exhibition ‘Bartolomeo Cavarozzi Sacre Famiglie a confronto’ (Bartolomeo Cavarozzi: Holy Families on display) was organized. Within the activities scheduled for the year 2011 we have promoted an educational project aimed at the students of some High Schools with the purpose of enhancing the appreciation of the cultural heritage of Turin among the youngsters. We have decided to carry on and improve this initiative with the city high schools also for the year 2012.”
